DIY

 -DollFaceRee.

Hi bloggers,
Okay so spring/summer fashion is on now, so why not make something for yourself. This link  is a DIY for a tie dye t-shirt - a popular trend  for summer. Tie  dye is random twisting, folding then put into dye- How fun!!

Lets make it geography related by seeing how it got to being this t-shirt.

  1. Cotton plant is produced,  bolls of this plant burst releasing white fibres, these are picked, cleaned and removed of their seeds. The fibres collected, are combed and spun into thread or yarn. This is then used to make are cotton material (oh junior cert knowledge!)
  2. Then coal, that makes your electricity to power your sewing machine that makes your t-shirt.

Fun facts:

  • It takes six miles of yarn to make one t-shirt
  • Wizard of Oz was the first to use a t-shirt as a promotion for their movie.
  • Over 2 billion t-shirt are sold each year- Now that's a lot.
  • Tie dye was used by American Youth who rebelled against the conservative rules.
