Weather is 'the state or condition of the atmosphere, with reference to temperature, precipitation and wind speed etc. The weather is studied by meteorologists. Elements of weather include rain, sun, fog, frost and cloud.'- http://www.ask.com/question/what-is-the-definition-of-weather

Precipitation, rain as I was telling you I had to walk home in, is just one form of precipitation, others would include snow, sleet and hail. Rain occurs when water vapour condenses around dust particles, creating clouds. When clouds get heavy they let the water fall.
This is a fun website to get information about weather: http://education.nationalgeographic.com/education/mapping/interactive-map/?ls=802007&f=7b1&t=1&lg=10&b=3&bbox=163.75924%2C-64.28773%2C137.04049%2C69.92637
Fun facts:
- The highest temperature in the Antarctica(driest continent) at 14.6 °C (59 °F) recorded on January 5, 1974. but the highest temperature in the world is 56.7°C (134°F) in California, July 10,1913.
- Rain falls on other planets, but its not exactly are nice water droplets e.g. on Venus it rains sulphuric acid (but never touches surfaces due to intense heat)
- A rainbow is actually a full circle of light but since we only view them from the ground its just semi circle- looks like there no gold at the end of a rainbow
Well, according to http://mathforum.org/library/drmath/view/58415.html you need to use a Kelvin scale, we use a formula to put it into this to get a solid number K = C + 273.15 (K=kelvin, C= Celsius) and we get that the temperature is 273.15 degrees when its doubled.
